Sniffing Around for Providing Navigation Assistance
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we describe an approach to adap-tive navigation assistance that is meant to enhance a user's information scent. The navigation assistance is composed of a combination of predictive user navigation modeling and common information retrieval methods. Besides assistance in forward browsing, the assistant helps users in deciding when to switch to searching or backtracking, while taking their navigation preferences into account.

Wheelchair Navigation Assistance in the FP7 Project RADHAR: Objectives and Current State
This paper presents the research objectives and current state of the semi-autonomous navigation components that are being developed in the FP7 project RADHAR (www.radhar.eu). RADHAR proposes a framework to fuse the inherently uncertain information from both environment perception and a wheelchair driver’s steering signals by estimating the trajectory the wheelchair should execute in that enviro...
متن کاملExperimental evaluation of intelligent assistance for navigation
Modern user interfaces make extensive use of navigation, a metaphor based on way nding in a physical space. Navigation can be an e ective solution for many problems in understanding and manipulating a complex information space. Unfortunately, current research toward domain-independent, intelligent assistance for navigation lacks some important conceptual and practical tools for evaluation. This...
متن کاملCalibration of an Inertial Accelerometer using Trained Neural Network by Levenberg-Marquardt Algorithm for Vehicle Navigation
The designing of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicles needs measurement of dynamical variations of vehicle, such as acceleration, velocity and yaw rate. Designed adaptive controllers to control lateral and longitudinal vehicle dynamics are based on the measured variables. Inertial MEMS-based sensors have some benefits including low price and low consumption that make them ...
متن کاملAutomated forced-choice dynamic-dilution olfactometer and method of operating the same
An automated forced-choice dynamic-dilution olfactometer has an odor evaluation module having two or more panelist stations, with a plurality of sniffing ports at each station. At least one signal element at each station is connected to a data control unit. Separate air lines are connected to one each of the sniffing ports at each station. One of the air lines has an odor introduction port. The...
متن کاملA New Method of Mobile Robot Navigation: Shortest Null Space
In this paper, a new method was proposed for the navigation of a mobile robot in an unknown dynamic environment. The robot could detect only a limited radius of its surrounding with its sensors and it went on the shortest null space (SNS) toward the goal. In the case of no obstacle, SNS was a direct path from the robot to goal; however, in the presence of obstacles, SNS was a space around the r...
